Planning and geosteering enhanced geothermal energy systems – contact us.

The increasing use of enhanced geothermal energy to generate electricity is a welcome development in harnessing renewable sources of energy. The process involves injecting cool water down a borehole, into the subsurface and allowing it to migrate through fractured rock. The injected fluids increase in temperature as they move along their subsurface pathway, before they are recovered at another borehole. The superheated fluids pass through a turbine, generating electricity before being re-injected into the subsurface and repeating the process.
Drilling boreholes into the optimum stratigraphic level is crucial to maximising energy recovery. The team at MB Stratigraphy are well-placed to assist with the planning and development of these projects, due to our extensive knowledge of stratigraphic horizons targeted for fracturing and fluid injection.
We have a proven ability to geosteer boreholes using robust techniques that are both cost-effective and time-efficient. We provide stratigraphic correlation with other boreholes by the application of our internationally-recognised zonation scheme.
